We are somewhat connoisseurs (snobs??) of coffee at our house. Every morning starts with grinding coffee beans and preparing coffee with a French coffee press.  Sometimes it is coffee with Nancy while watching the morning news. Or sometimes it is stepping outside with coffee in hand after releasing the hounds.  The hounds are really Westies, but it is still nice to be outside with your coffee.

Visited this place after reading about it. Car repair and coffee roasting make for a unique place of business located on the south side of Fort Worth. Reviews say the best coffee in the Fort Worth Dallas area comes from here.  Still on my first batch, but will probably be in agreement with the reviews.

No coffee is roasted until ordered. Be prepared to wait about 20 minutes for your coffee to be roasted if you don't call ahead. Waiting is part of the experience and fun. Mr Rodak will keep you entertained with coffee history and facts.  This is going to become a regular stop.

Smells of Summer

The smell of freshly ground ginger root while making BBQ sauce and the smell of rain on a hot dry summer day are my favorites.  A brief rain while BBQing yesterday brought these two into close proximity. Also for the record, you can't open a beer with an electric can opener, even when when sober.  If you haven't had drunken chicken, it is worth a try.  The addition of crab boil to the beer makes it even better.

"A dull pencil is greater than the sharpest memory" arthur unknown BC (before calculators) I remember when I was growing up, many of the farmers and ranchers carried these pocket pencils.  They were the calculator of the day.  And any flat surface would suffice for figuring the cost of a load of hay, how much you owed the hired hands, etc.  Seemed like there were numbers every where; on the faded paint of truck fenders, door frames and many pages of pocket sized note pads.
